After years of steep decline from their heyday as a hangout spot in the ’80s and ’90s, shopping malls seem to be making a come back.

The data says we have Gen Z to thank: Younger shoppers are seeking not just new clothes and gadgets, but “community and in-person connection” — and they’re finding it at malls, USA Today reported earlier this year.

Malls themselves seem to be changing to accommodate, renovating common areas and stores to serve as better backdrops for social media content, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Salt Lake Tribune wants to hear from you: Do you shop at malls? Why? Which ones? How have they changed, to you?

Whether it’s City Creek Center, Fashion Place, The Shops at South Town, Layton Hills Mall or any of the state’s others, your input helps inform our reporting. A survey is available below or by visiting this link.
