Flying for a spring vacation? Plan for extra travel time on your way to Salt Lake City International Airport.
Starting Sunday at 7 p.m., the ramp from southbound Interstate 215 to westbound Interstate 80 will be closed, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. For traffic coming from the airport, the ramp from eastbound Interstate 80 to southbound I-215 will be closed.
Both ramps will be closed for up to 45 days, the transportation agency said, and travelers will need to take alternate routes to make their flights or drive home.
Here are those detours:

• Traffic coming from north of the airport: Drivers will need to continue south on I-215 to State Route 201, then use westbound State Route 201 to Bangerter Highway before heading north toward the airport.
• Travelers leaving the airport: UDOT says traffic going east on I-80 will be detoured to southbound I-15, then onto westbound State Route 201, where drivers can reconnect with southbound I-215.
Drivers will also encounter three other ramp closures near the I-80 and I-215 interchange, according to UDOT. On- and off-ramps from I-215 to California Avenue are closed until mid-May, Redwood Road to southbound I-215 is closed through early June and Redwood Road to northbound I-215 is closed until July 2027.
These closures are part of the I-215 West Improved project, which is replacing 18 bridge decks, repairing potholes on 12 other bridges and repaving 25 miles of I-215, according to a news release from the transportation agency.
“Throughout the spring and summer, every ramp within the I-80 and I-215 interchange will close at different times for bridge work,” UDOT said in the release. “Crews will stagger ramp closures so not all ramps will close at once, though some closures will overlap. Most ramp closures will last between 20 and 40 days, with many completed in about a month. “
Construction schedules may change based on weather or other factors, so the agency encouraged drivers to check the UDOT Traffic app or visit udottraffic.utah.gov before traveling.
