The body of a man who died when he fell through the ice on a Utah reservoir while trying to perform a rescue has been recovered, according to Tooele City police.

Authorities were notified shortly before 7 p.m on Monday that a man and a woman, both in their early 20s, had fallen through the ice at the Settlement Canyon Reservoir, about two miles south of Tooele. The woman was able to make it out of the water, but the man — whose name has not been released — slipped under the ice and did not resurface. His body was found by rescue personnel at about 11:20 p.m.

The woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for cold exposure, and she is expected to make a full recovery.

Almost a year ago, a 14-year-old boy fell through the ice and drowned at the same reservoir.
