19-year-old killed in Elk Ridge home explosion

It’s unknown if the explosion has affected the structural integrity of the building at this time and the cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

A 19-year-old male was killed following an explosion at a home in Elk Ridge home.

Officers received a call at 4:15 p.m. of an explosion occurring in the garage of the house with several people inside. The teenage male was later found dead, while the rest of the building’s occupants were uninjured.

It’s unknown if the explosion has affected the structural integrity of the building at this time and the cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

According to Sgt. Spencer Cannon with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, several surrounding roads were closed because of the explosion potentially scattering evidence over a wide area.
