The body of a 26-year-old woman who apparently died in a fall in Zion National Park was recovered Sunday evening.

According to a park spokeswoman, park visitors reported that the woman, whose name has not been released, fell 50 to 80 feet in Mystery Canyon on Saturday afternoon. A rescue helicopter was dispatched but was unable to reach the woman because of the steep, narrow canyon walls in the area. Park medics were able to reach her, but she died before she could be transported out.

The death is under investigation by the National Park Service and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
