Name released of Lindon man who died after being pulled from sinking truck

An 80-year-old man died after a ranger rescued him from a sinking truck at Quail Creek State Park.

Ranger Dylan Urban went to a boat ramp at Quail Creek on Tuesday after witnesses saw Schaerrer trapped in inside his truck, which was backing down the ramp and filling with water. Urban broke the truck window and got Schaerrer out. Urban performed CPR until emergency medical units arrived on scene. Schaerrer was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The incident is under investigation.
