A man has been charged with stealing an Ogden Fire Department ambulance last week, FOX 13 reports.
Mitchell Bryce May, 28, was arrested early Monday after his father called Ogden police because May was becoming violent, according to a probable cause statement. Officers said they saw what they believed to be methamphetamine in May’s pocket. The statement said police believed May was under the influence and would be “a danger to others if left in the home.”
May resisted when police tried to arrest him, kicking police officers and stealing one officer’s stun gun.
FOX 13 reports that while May was being processed into jail, officers noticed he was wearing the same shirt as the man suspected of stealing the ambulance on Jan. 3.
May was booked into Weber County Jail on suspicion of disarming a police officer, assaulting a police officer, possession of a controlled substance and intoxication, according to the probable cause statement.
According to FOX 13, May has been charged with second-degree felony vehicle theft and misdemeanor interfering with a public servant for allegedly stealing the ambulance.
The ambulance was stolen early Sunday, when Ogden Fire Department crew members apparently left the keys in the vehicle while responding to a call in an apartment complex. The ambulance was recovered later that day when, after Ogden police posted about the missing vehicle on Facebook, a resident reported they saw it in a neighbor’s backyard.
