Sheriff’s deputies kill armed man in Huntsville

Sheriff’s deputies shot and killed an armed man Friday night while investigating a disturbance in Huntsville, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office reported.

A Huntsville homeowner had notified police at 10:40 p.m. after observing the man attempt to break into a trailer parked in front of their house, according to statement posted on Facebook. The person was also firing shots.

Deputies from both Weber and Morgan counties responded to the scene where the man confronted them with “aggressive actions,” prompting two officers to open fire.

The man, whom the sheriff has not identified, died from his injuries at the scene. No one else was injured in the confrontation.

In accordance with policy, the deputy who fired the lethal rounds was place on administrative while the shooting is investigated.

The sheriff’s office declined to provide any further details on Saturday.
