Wildfire burns about 200 acres near Santaquin, but doesn’t force evacuations

A wildfire that started southwest of Santaquin on Sunday afternoon sparked rumors of evacuations, but an official later said no one has been forced from their homes. The Goshen Fire had burned an estimated 200 acres as of about 7 p.m. Sunday, and no evacuations have been put into effect, tweeted Sgt. Spencer Cannon with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

That fire broke out shortly after residents of Pleasant Grove, about 30 miles north, were allowed to return to their homes Sunday following a threat from the Battle Creek 2 Fire.
