One woman killed, another wounded in Ogden shooting

Ogden police have arrested a man after one woman was shot to death and another was wounded on Wednesday.

When police arrived at a home on the 3000 block of Adams Avenue at about 12:35 a.m., they found a woman outside who had been wounded. A second woman, who had been shot and killed, was found inside the house. A 41-year-old man was taken into custody.

The first woman was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital; she is expected to survive. The name of the 40-year-old woman who died at the scene has not yet been released.

According to a probable cause statement, the wounded woman was shot “in an extremity” by the suspect as she ran from him. The suspect shot at her “at least” two more times as she fled, but missed.

Police wrote that the suspect “admitted to shooting at” the woman who fled from him. In addition to the weapon used in the shooting, police said they found three more guns in the suspect’s bedroom, along with a fake ID card and a Social Security card with a false number. According to police, the suspect is in the United States illegally and is, thus, prohibited from owning guns.

The suspect was booked into the Weber County jail for investigation of murder, possession of a weapon by a restricted person and forgery. He is being held without bail.
