Main suspect in Thanksgiving Day shooting is found dead

The main suspect in a Thanksgiving Day shooting was found dead on Monday, and police are now investigating.

The body of Joshua Perez-Garcia and his vehicle were found by workers at a residential construction site near 6200 W. 11000 South as crews were arriving for work, the South Jordan Police Department said in a news release. “We are investigating Joshua’s death as suspicious,” police said.

Perez-Garcia was wanted for questioning after the holiday shooting that sent three people — with varying degrees of injuries — to the hospital. One victim was struck by gunfire eight times and the other two only once, according to The Associated Press.

Anyone with information about Perez-Garcia or the shooting on Thanksgiving can contact the South Jordan Police Department at 801-840-4000.
