A Utah woman has been charged after she pushed out emergency windows and jumped from a moving Frontrunner train.
The 26-year-old Murray woman was on a southbound train in Davis County on July 10, according to charging documents, when she “began to shout” and threatened “to sue the city.” She then broke out four emergency windows and “leapt out one of them while the train was moving.”
According to UTA police, when the woman was located, she “smelled of alcohol” and had suffered “cuts and bruises." The woman was “rather emotional” as she told them “she had gotten on the train to be with her boyfriend … and she had gotten off the train to be with him on the train” — which “did not make much sense,” according to UTA officers.
The woman has been charged in Second District Court with criminal mischief, a second-degree felony. The cost for repairing the train windows was $2,114.08 “not counting the labor costs,” and the incident delayed Frontrunner trains for up to 31 minutes.
