Woman, 68, dies in mountain biking wreck in Park City

A 68-year-old woman died Monday after she crashed while mountain biking in Park City.

A group of cyclists found the woman — identified as Cynthia Schwandt of Park City — about 7:30 p.m. alongside her bicycle on the Fox Tail Trail, near the Solamere neighborhood in eastern Park City, said Park City Police Capt. Phil Kirk.

They called 911 to report she had “serious injuries,” Kirk said; Schwandt later died.

Schwandt was wearing a helmet. She was about a quarter mile from the nearest trailhead, but responders did not know whether that was the trailhead she started from.

"It's a tragedy," Kirk said. "We're not sure why it happened."
