A Utah couple has been charged with several sex crimes as the result of alleged longterm abuse of a girl when she was 14 and 15 years old.

Michael Mahoney, 57, and Christinas Mahoney, 33, have each been charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second-degree felonies; and five counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, third-degree felonies.

According to court documents, the Mahoneys began engaging in sexual acts with the then-14-year-old girl in November 2017, and the sexual activity continued from March to November 2018.

Additionally, Michael Mahoney exchanged explicit text messages, photos and videos with the teenager.

Court documents listed a Sandy address for the Mahoneys, but the crimes took place in Grantsville.

Christina Mahoney also faces three charges of violating a protective order, class A misdemeanors. According to a probable cause statement, the teenage girl and her mother had a protective order against Christina Mahoney, which she violated more than 52 times by sending the girl text messages — which “ranged from sexual to Christina telling the minor she did not like her parents and could kill them.”

The court document also states that Christina Mahoney texted the teenager’s mother six times, including a threat to “take her out.”
