Utah trooper intercepts wrong-way driver on freeway

The Utah Highway Patrol says a trooper successfully intercepted a wrong-way driver on a Salt Lake City-area freeway early Friday morning.

The Highway Patrol says that the trooper had a minor injury, that using the interception technique disabled his patrol car while stopping the other vehicle and that the other driver is a DUI suspect who wasn’t injured.

According to the agency, the suspect was arrested and had a breath alcohol concentration of 0.148, nearly three times the state’s DUI threshold of 0.05.

The driver was stopped while driving north on southbound lanes of Interstate 15 after also driving the wrong way on Interstate 215.
