The University of Utah is helping the Salt Lake City Police Department look for a person of interest in a recent stabbing in Salt Lake City.

Kidus Chane Yohannes, 31, is wanted for questioning in the death of Candace Rose Samples, 20. Samples and a second victim were stabbed next to a dumpster behind the Dollar Tree store at 477 N. 300 West shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Authorities were unable to locate either a suspect or a weapon at the time and said Yohannes should be considered armed and dangerous. He was seen on campus Wednesday morning around 11 a.m. at the Marriott Library, according to a campus safety alert, which was sent to students hours later out of “an abundance of caution.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
