Two dead in fire at Provo farm, dozens of animals also killed

Two people were killed in a barn fire in Provo early Monday.

About 30 firefighters responded to the blaze at Finch Family Farm, 358 S. 2470 West, which started as a brush fire about 1:30 a.m., according to authorities. It spread to several buildings; the bodies of the victims — who have not yet been identified by police — were found in the burned-out remains of those structures.

Dozens of horses, goats and chickens were also killed.

The fire did not affect nearby Amelia Earhart Elementary School, which was scheduled to open as usual.

The cause of the fire was under investigation as firefighters searched for a missing person Monday morning.
