Last week, members of the Senate Judiciary Committee heard dramatic testimony from Judge Brett Kavanaugh, a nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court, and Christine Blasey Ford, a psychology professor who says Kavanaugh assaulted her when they were both teenagers.
The narrowly divided Senate is expected to vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation this week, after a supplemental investigation into Kavanaugh’s background by the FBI. And there is little doubt that Utah’s senators will ultimately support Kavanaugh’s appointment, with Mike Lee criticizing his democratic colleagues for the way Ford’s allegations came forward, and Orrin Hatch calling the hearings a “national disgrace.”
On this week’s episode of “Trib Talk,” Salt Lake Tribune Washington bureau chief Thomas Burr joins reporter Benjamin Wood to discuss last week’s hearings, the ongoing FBI investigation and the looming vote on the Senate floor.
