Bullfrog • Authorities say a Colorado man is missing and presumed dead after jumping off a houseboat north of Lake Powell.

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area officials identify the missing man as 41-year-old Daniel Patrick McGuckin of Avon.

They received a distress call Saturday afternoon about a man going overboard without a life jacket on about 15 miles south of Bullfrog near Iceberg Canyon.

Crews from the National Park Service, Kane County Sheriff's Office and Utah State Parks began a search but McGuckin couldn't be located.

McGuckin's friends say their party of nine was on a houseboat traveling to Bullfrog from the Escalante arm of Lake Powell when he decided to jump off the port side.

Authorities say McGuckin now is presumed dead and dive teams are conducting body recovery operations.
