Layton teenager accused of fatally shooting 19-year-old over phony marijuana

A Layton teenager has been charged as an adult for allegedly shooting a 19-year-old over fake marijuana in Davis County.

Seth JD Carreras, 17, was charged Tuesday in 2nd District Court with first-degree felony murder for the death of Hunter Woodson at the victim’s Sunset home.

Carreras reportedly intended to buy marijuana from Woodson on the afternoon of Nov. 21, according to court documents. Woodson instead sold Carreras “spices,” and Carreras “shot the victim multiple times with a 9mm handgun,” documents state.

Police found Woodson dead from gunshot wounds at the Sunset home where he lived with his grandfather, according to Sunset Police Chief Ken Eborn.

Police officers arrested Carreras at his home in Layton about half-hour after the 3:15 p.m. shooting.

Carreras is scheduled to appear before a judge Wednesday afternoon.
