A crooner’s Christmas

Decker Lake Drive, West Valley City. Isaak is on his “It’s Almost Christmas” tour, so expect a selection of holiday songs. The opening act is The Shootouts. Tickets are available at maverikcenter.com.

Dec. 8-27

A Christmas classic returns

It’s time once again for Ballet West’s production of “The Nutcracker,” based on E.T.A. Hoffman’s children’s story of a little girl who receives a nutcracker soldier for Christmas and dreams of an adventure in the Land of the Sugar-Plum Fairies. This production, based on Ballet West founder Willam Christensen’s original choreography, bills itself as the first “Nutcracker” produced in the United States. The production has its premiere on Friday, with performances running through Dec. 27 — all at the Capitol Theatre, 50 W. 200 South, Salt Lake City. Tickets available at balletwest.org.

Dec. 8-9

Mat & Savanna for Christmas

The Utah father-daughter musical duo Mat & Savanna Shaw are slated to perform a program of Christmas songs, Friday and Saturday, at the Eccles Theater, 131 S. Main St., Salt Lake City. The duo started releasing videos on YouTube in 2020, near the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and developed a global following. Tickets for both shows, which start at 7:30 p.m., are available at saltlakecountyarts.org.
