Remembering the Golden Spike
Tuesday marks the 153rd anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike, completing the Transcontinental Railroad at Promontory, Utah. The official commemoration of the event happens at the Golden Spike National Historical Park at Promontory, Tuesday, with activities from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. — highlighted by a reenactment of the last spike ceremony at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Events at Promontory are free. … This Is the Place Heritage Park, at 2601 E. Sunnyside Ave. in Salt Lake City, will mark the occasion with “Train Day” events, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; tickets are $15.95 for adults, $13.95 for people 65 and over, $11.95 for children 3 to 11, and free for kids 2 and under.

A free concert with a cause
Alex Boyé — the British-born, Utah-based singer, YouTube sensation and “America’s Got Talent” alumnus — will headline a benefit concert, Friday at 7 p.m. at the Maverik Center, 3200 S. Decker Lake Drive, West Valley City. The show aims to draw attention to efforts to prevent suicide in Utah, “to help build connections, healing and support in our community,” according to the Bend Not Break Foundation, which is putting on the show. Tickets are free, but must be obtained in advance; go to MaverikCenter.com for details. Donations will be accepted.

LoveLoud is back, in a new place
The LoveLoud Festival, the music event started by Imagine Dragons’ frontman Dan Reynolds to offer support to Utah’s LGBTQ+ teens and adults, returns Saturday — this time at Vivint Smart Home Arena, 301 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Reynolds leads the massive music lineup, along with Willow, Anitta, Neon Trees, Mat & Savanna Shaw, The Aces, David Archuleta and more. The show starts at 4 p.m. Tickets, starting at $25, are available at Ticketmaster.
