Utah sophomore wide receiver Zacharyus Williams reportedly entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Tuesday afternoon, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Williams spent one season with the Utes in 2024, playing in a total of 10 games. In that time he caught 10 passes and logged 101 receiving yards. The Carson, California, native’s best game of the season came in Utah’s win vs. UCF, where he had six receptions for 72 yards.
This spring, following the losses of former senior wide receivers Dorian Singer and Money Parks, Williams was emerging as the Utes’ No. 1 wide receiver option. He also shined in Utah’s 22 Forever Spring game, making several highlight catches from new transfer quarterback Devon Dampier.
“Zacharyus Williams is becoming [the guy],” Whittingham said during Utah’s spring camp. “If we had to [say] today, he’s wide receiver No. 1. He’s the guy that’s making the most plays, getting open, running the best routes, catching the football clean.
“He is really dangerous after the catch. That’s one of his main attributes. He can make some people miss. ... He’s also very good on the jet sweeps. In fact, I’m pretty convinced that, if we had to, he could play running back. I mean, he’s got that natural ability with the ball in his hands.”
With the loss of Williams, the Utes will have to go shopping for another wide receiver in the portal or even bring back Williams before the spring transfer window closes.
