Utah, Utah State will play each other in football again. Here’s when the Utes and Aggies meet

The series had been dormant since 2015.

Utah and Utah State will renew their football series for the first time since 2015.

The Utes will travel to Logan next season to play a nonconference game. Utah State will then come to Rice-Eccles in 2026 and 2031.

The game completes Utah’s non-conference schedule for 2024, which was complicated by its move to the Big 12.

Utah was originally set to play BYU in the non-conference next season. But with BYU being in the Big 12, that game then became a conference game and will likely be played around Thanksgiving.

That meant Utah had an open non-conference slot. The Utes turned to a familiar in-state foe. Before 2015, Utah and Utah State had played 112 times. Utah has not traveled to Logan since 2012.

“It is tremendous for our football program to host the University of Utah this fall,” Utah State athletic director Diana Sabau said in a news release. “Aggie Nation has certainly stressed the importance of in-state matchups in my short time at USU. Thank you to Utah athletics director Mark Harlan and his staff for making football in the state of Utah important for our fans.”

Utah’s non-conference schedule now includes Utah State, Southern Utah and Baylor. Although Baylor is a member of the Big 12, next year’s meeting will be counted as a non-conference game. It was previously scheduled when Utah was still a member of the Pac-12.

The Utes will play six home games next year: Southern Utah, Baylor, Iowa State, TCU, Arizona and BYU. The road games include Utah State, Arizona State, UCF, Colorado, Houston and Oklahoma State.
