Utes jump into the Top 25 after dominating USC

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah players celebrate as the Utah Utes host the USC Trojans, NCAA football at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Saturday Oct. 20, 2018.

The Utah Utes are once again a Top 25 football team, after crushing USC on Saturday.

The Associated Press poll lists Utah 23rd, a spot ahead of Stanford. The USA Today’s Coaches Poll has the Utes 24th, one spot below Stanford.

In both polls, the Utah State Aggies were high in the "others receiving votes" category, essentially coming in 27th in both polls.

The Utes beat Pac-12 South rival USC 41-28 behind a suffocating defense and an aggressive offense. The media and coaches took notice. Utah is the only Pac-12 South team that remains ranked.

The other Pac-12 schools in the top 25 include Washington State (14), Washington (15) and Oregon (19)

AP Top 25 mainstays Alabama and Clemson are first and second.
