Former Ute Raelon Singleton announces transfer to Houston

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah Utes wide receiver Raelon Singleton (11) stretches out after a catch as the University of Utah hosts Washington State, NCAA football in Salt Lake City, Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017.

Former Utes wide receiver Raelon Singleton will play out his final year of eligibility at the University of Houston.

Utah announced in January that Singleton, the team’s second-leading receiver this past season, would leave the program for family reasons. A native of Crosby, Texas, which is outside Houston, Singleton announced his intentions to seek a graduate transfer via social media.

He sat out the 2014 season as a redshirt, and he will be eligible to play at Houston immediately.

Singleton thanked Houston’s coaching staff and coach Major Applewhite for welcoming him to the program in a Twitter post on Wednesday afternoon.

A 6-foot-3, 212-pound receiver, Singleton had been the Utes’ second-leading receiver in 2016 and 2017. This past season as a redshirt junior, he caught 36 passes for 531 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games.

In three seasons (34 games), he caught 69 passes for 1,044 yards and eight touchdowns.
