Real Salt Lake rallied for a point in San Diego on Sunday night.

Victor Olatunji’s goal in the 85th minute lifted RSL to a 2-2 tie, extending the team’s unbeaten streak to four.

But while Olatunji said one point was “not a bad thing for us for now,” RSL wanted more.

“We did not go for a tie,” the striker said afterward. “We want three points from every game.”

Salt Lake looked capable of winning. RSL had 21 shots, seven on target, and eight corners. The advanced stats projected Salt Lake to score again: 3.32 expected goals.

RSL opened the scoring in the 17th minute, when Juan Manuel Sanabrai’s left-footed cross found Sergi Solan’s head in the box.

San Diego’s Marcus Ingvartsen leveled the game 1o minutes later. And, when Anders Dreyer lifted the ball over Salt Lake goalie Rafa Cabral in the 56th minute, San Diego led 2-1.

In the 85th minute, Salt Lake attacker Morgan Guilavogui’s cross made it to the far post, where Olatunji was able to redirect it into the back of the net and level the game.

Major League Soccer now enters an international break.

RSL next plays on April 4, when the team hosts Sporting Kansas City at America First Field.
