Musovski’s brace helps Real Salt Lake take down León in Leagues Cup

RSL next faces MLS foe LAFC in the Round of 16.

(Alex Kormann | Star Tribune via AP) Real Salt Lake forward Danny Musovski, seen here in a match against Minnesota United in May, scored twice to help RSL beat Club León in the Leagues Cup's Round of 32 Friday night.

While soccer fans at America First Field waited for Thursday night’s storm to pass, a raccoon fell through a hole in the ceiling of the stadium’s press box and scurried among the spectators on the concourse before being caught.

On Friday night, after the storm had forced Real Salt Lake’s match with Liga MX’s Club León to be rescheduled, the Moose got loose.

Striker Danny Musovski scored goals in the 69th and 71st minutes to lead RSL to a 3-1 win in the Leagues Cup. With the victory, Salt Lake will advance to face LAFC in the round of 16.

Musovski headed in his first of the night, tapping home a touch in front of the goal from striker Chicho Arango.

Two minutes later, Musovski took a pass over the top of the defense and aimed a left-footed strike toward the far post.

Arango sealed the victory with a poacher’s effort, smashing a spilled save inches in front of the goalkeeper’s face.

León’s Iván Moreno put his team ahead early with an eighth-minute goal.
