Real Monarchs change dates of New Mexico games due to NM governor’s executive order

A health directive in New Mexico related to the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Real Monarchs to augment their upcoming schedule.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham issued an executive order that went into effect July 13 stipulating that people visiting the state must self-quarantine for the duration of their stay or 14 days, whichever is shorter. There are exceptions to that order, but it does not include sports teams.

The Monarchs were scheduled to play a road game against New Mexico United on July 29 at Isotopes Park. That game was postponed and moved to a later date.

The four games between NMU and the Monarchs are now as follows: Two games at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman are on Aug. 19 and 22, while the other two in New Mexico are tentatively scheduled for Sept. 12 and 30.

The Monarchs restarted their season with two games that allowed spectators. They lost the first and drew the second.
