Real Salt Lake has added to its depth at the goalkeeper position.

The club announced Tuesday that it acquired Zac MacMath from the Vancouver Whitecaps for $50,000 in targeted allocation money. MacMath joins Andrew Putna and David Ochoa as keepers who will vie for the starting spot in 2020.

“He brings valuable experience in MLS and will have an opportunity to compete to start,” RSL coach Freddy Juarez said of MacMath in a statement.

The nine-year Major League Soccer veteran started eight games for the Whitecaps last season and recorded 37 saves while allowing 13 goals. He spent the previous four seasons with the Colorado Rapids and four seasons before that with the Philadelphia Union.

MacMath also has experience playing at the U.S. Men’s National Team level with Under-17, Under 20 and Under-23 teams.
