‘How ‘Bout This Jazz’ podcast: What’s next for Joe Ingles and the Utah Jazz?

Plus, talking Utah’s January to forget and which sports teams need to rebrand

(Chris Samuels | The Salt Lake Tribune) Joe Ingles answers questions during Utah Jazz media day at Vivint Arena, Monday, Sept. 27, 2021 in Salt Lake City.

It’s February and no one is happier that it’s a new month than the Utah Jazz fans.

Quin Snyder’s team went 4-12 in January. Obviously, not having Donovan Mitchell or Rudy Gobert for a good amount of the month was a big reason for the dreadful record. But let’s be honest: the Jazz’s continued defensive struggles played a part, too.

To top it all off, Joe Ingles — who was having a down year but still was a bench threat for the Jazz — suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

It’s possible that we might have seen Ingles play for the Utah Jazz for the last time.

On the latest episode of The Tribune’s “How ‘Bout This Jazz” podcast, host/moderator Xoel Cardenas and Tribune Jazz beat reporters Andy Larsen and Eric Walden discuss what could be next for Ingles. They also give their favorite “Jingles” moments during his time in Utah.

The guys also talk “what’s next” for the Jazz, both post-Ingles injury and post-January to forget. With the trade deadline coming up, will Danny Ainge look to make one or several moves to boost the team and try to salvage any realistic championship aspirations?

Lastly, in honor (or dishonor, perhaps) of the Washington Football Team officially rebranding as the Washington Commanders, Xoel, Andy and Eric tell you which teams they think should get rid of their nicknames and rebrand.
