Bronco Mendenhall may be done coaching, but he isn’t done teaching fans about the game of college football.

The former BYU and Virginia football coach announced Tuesday that he is launching a podcast called “HeadCoachU.”

“Looking forward to getting in depth with so many issues kind of beyond the game to really discuss what’s happening in college football — why we’re playing the game, and what’s really intended to do,” Mendenhall said in a trailer promoting the podcast’s launch.

The show will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other platforms.

Mendenhall surprisingly stepped down from Virginia after the 2021 season. At the time, he said it was " a chance after 31 years straight to step back ... and reinvent myself.”

Mendenhall coached at BYU from 2005-2015. He spent 2003 and 2004 as the defensive coordinator for the Cougars. He had a stint at Snow College from 1991-1992 as its defensive coordinator.

Mendenhall also coached at schools like Oregon State, Louisiana Tech and New Mexico. His overall record is 135-81, with a bowl record of 7-7.
