The Utah Royals’ 10-game unbeaten streak ended Sunday in Evanston, Illinois.

Coming off the NWSL’s monthlong international break, Utah fell to the Chicago Stars 3-2 for their first loss since March 22 at San Diego. The club-record streak comprised seven wins and three draws.

The game was a seesaw battle before Chicago’s Jordyn Huitema scored the decisive goal in the 86th minute.

Huitema also scored the first goal of the game, in the 20th minute.

Utah bounced back with Cloé Lacasse’s goal in the 43rd minute, tying the game 1-1.

The Royals then took a 2-1 lead with Cece Delzer’s penalty kick in the 54th minute.

But Chicago would not be denied. The Stars’ Sam Staab scored in the 59th minute to tie the game a 2-2, before Huitema got the game-winner in the 86th.

The loss left Utah (7-3-3) in a third-place tie with Portland, though the Thorns were in action against Racing Louisville in the afternoon.

The Stars (4-9-0) are in 14th place.

The Royals will return home to face Gotham FC on Friday (8 p.m., Victory+) at America First Field.
