Ridgeline holds off Ogden for first 4A girls soccer championship

Sandy • A rematch between Ogden and Ridgeline for the 4A girls soccer state championship was just as competitive as advertised.

Each squad held one-goal leads only to relinquish them soon after. There were electrifying saves and nutmegs galore.

But only one emerged as the 4A champion.

Ridgeline scored late in the game to eclipse Ogden 3-2 and and win the 4A state title at Rio Tinto Stadium.

“The best feeling of our entire life,” an ecstatic Adeline Fiefia said. “It’s awesome.”

Fiefia scored the game-winning goal with less than five minutes remaining in the game. It came off a free kick.

Ridgeline lost to Ogden in last season’s championship game. Fiefia said the message after last season’s loss was to get to the title game and not leave with any regrets.

“Revenge is one of the best parts of this game,” she said.

It was the first state title in girls' soccer for Ridgeline in school history.
