Two Utah high school baseball teams were crowned champions at the inaugural Last Chance Tournament on Saturday.
American Fork took the 6A championship, beating Riverton 8-7. The Cavemen had to come form behind to win the title game.
Timpanogos narrowly beat Salem Hills 9-8 for the 5A championship later in the evening, also having to stage a comeback late in the game.
The two-week tournament was put on after the Utah High School Activities Association canceled spring sports in the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Players, coaches and spectators expressed confidence at the start of the tournament that no one was in too much danger of getting the coronavirus.
