Report: Mike Conley to miss multiple games, could miss multiple weeks

(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah Jazz guard Mike Conley (10) drives inside with the ball, as Brooklyn Nets guard Garrett Temple (17) defends, in NBA basketball action between the Utah Jazz and the Brooklyn Nets in Salt Lake City, Tuesday, Nov 12, 2019.

The Jazz announced Wednesday that point guard Mike Conley had re-injured his hamstring during the Jazz’s game against the Orlando Magic Tuesday, and while he’d miss tomorrow’s game against Atlanta, would be re-evaluated during the team’s upcoming 3-game road trip. No timeline was placed on Conley’s return, however.

An earlier report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania indicated that Conley will miss multiple games and “could miss multiple weeks."

Conley missed five games after experiencing hamstring tightness, which was frustrating for the Jazz point guard. “That’s why they’re like, ‘Be patient, be patient, don’t push it.’ And I’m just trying to push it every day,” Conley said before his return.

Clearly, he learned why the training staff advised to be patient with the injury, as hamstring injuries are notoriously easy to reaggravate. Now, he’ll miss more time.

Charania said that the Jazz plan to evaluate Conley’s injury on a day-to-day basis, but the plan is to be cautious with Conley’s return to prevent further reaggravation.

In the mean time, the Jazz will likely return to a starting lineup featuring Royce O’Neale, Joe Ingles, Donovan Mitchell, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Rudy Gobert. But Conley’s injury places more strain on a weak Jazz bench unit that has struggled this season.
