Salt Lake Bees fall to Omaha 8-6 despite Hermosillo’s power display

Michael Hermosillo belted two home runs and drove in five runs, but it wasn’t enough as the host Omaha Storm Chasers defeated the Salt Lake Bees 8-6 in a PCL game Thursday.

After Omaha jumped in front with five runs in the first and one more in the second, Hermosillo got Salt Lake on the board with a three-run homer in the in the third inning. His two-run shot in the eighth pulled the Bees to within three at 8-5.

He has four home runs and nine RBIs in the first two games of the series.

The Bees added an unearned run in the eighth and had the tying runs on base, but Nick Franklin fouled out.

Starter Alex Klonowski (1-7) took the loss, going 5 2⁄3 innings and allowing eight runs, seven earned, on nine hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Adam McCreery came out of the bullpen and tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

Jose Rojas had two hits for the Bees, including his league leading 37th double, while Anthony Bemboom extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a sixth-inning single.
