Tony Finau made six more birdies Sunday, completing the PGA Championship with a 2-under-par 68 that gave him a tie for 42nd place at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis.
The Lehi resident made 24 birdies in 72 holes, finishing at 3 under. Having placed in the top 10 in each of the first three major tournaments of 2018, Finau posted the third-best aggregate score in the four events.
Finau won’t automatically qualify for the U.S. Ryder Cup team, but he’s a strong contender to become one of four players picked by captain Jim Furyk in early September. Finau will take a week off, then begin the FedEx Cup Playoffs on Aug. 23.
