Bees snap short losing streak, rout Round Rock 8-3

A big six-run seventh inning helped the Salt Lake Bees short-circuit their two-game losing streak Thursday, beating the Round Rock Express 8-3 at Smith’s Ballpark.

After being hammered 16-4 by the Express on Wednesday night, it was the Bees whose bats showed up in Thursday’s matinee. Jabari Blash belted his Pacific Coast League-leading 16th home run in the season. David Fletcher went 2-for-4 and had a game-high pair of RBIs.

Jamie Barria got the start for the Bees and lasted three innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out three. He was relieved by Osmer Morales who was credited with the win after he went four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out one.

The victory was the Bees first against Round Rock in Salt Lake City since August 23, 2014 in game one of a doubleheader.

The Bees will remain home to host the New Orleans Baby Cakes in a four-game series starting Friday at 7:05 at Smith’s Ballpark.
