20 Best hyaluronic acid serums in 2023

Hyaluronic acid can be a total game-changer for your skincare routine, especially if you have dry skin.

Hyaluronic acid helps your skin retain water, which keeps it moisturized and nourished all day long. If you have no idea what hyaluronic acid is or where to begin your search for these magical serums, we’re here to help. Here are 20 of the best hyaluronic acid serums in 2023.

1. Blu Atlas Vitamin C Serum

You may have not heard of Blu Atlas, which is a shame, but we’ll let it pass this time. For the uninitiated, Blu Atlas is one of the hottest personal care brands on the market right now. It’s just now spring, and the relatively new brand has already been featured in Men’s Journal and Forbes, and their products are selling faster than anything else we’ve seen this year. So, it makes sense that one of the best hyaluronic acid serums in 2023 is from Blu Atlas.

Blu Atlas’s Vitamin C Serum features a powerhouse blend of mulberry root to calm signs of irritation and reduce the appearance of uneven tone, aloe barbadensis leaf rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E to provide natural moisturization and ascorbic acid—also vitamin C—to detoxify reactions and promote collagen formation in the skin. And to round it all off, Blu Atlas included hyaluronic acid as the final touch to one of the hottest new serums on the market.

2. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum

There is nothing ordinary about The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum. This vegan serum has “ultra-pure” hyaluronic acid according to The Ordinary. So, it isn’t a stretch when we say that this is a good hydrating bet if dryness is your number one enemy. Regardless of whether or not you have normal, oily, dry, combination or sensitive skin, this formula is infused with low, medium and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid that will work on anybody.

Also included is a very scientific next-generation H.A. crosspolymer concreted at 2% to provide multi-depth hydration, and it is supported by vitamin B5 to enhance the hydration properties even further. And don’t worry, this Allure Best of Beauty award-winning serum isn’t too good to be true. It is also free of parabens, phthalates, oil, alcohol, silicone, nuts and gluten, and it is also cruelty-free. Yep, it is just that good, and it’ll leave your skin looking anything but ordinary.

3. The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum

Since it is a lightweight liquid serum, it is suitable for normal, dry, combination and oily skin.

Together with hyaluronic acid and Matrixyl 3000, this serum can hold 1,000 times its weight in water. That translates to what will feel like infinite hydration all day long. 6. Youth To The People Triple Peptide + Cactus Hydrating + Firming Oasis Serum

Cacti have had a moment in the personal care world. Don’t think we won’t welcome our new desert plant overlords with open arms because we definitely will. One of our favorite products on the market right now that embraces this trend is Youth To The People’s Triple Peptide + Cactus Hydrating + Firming Oasis Serum.

Yes, we know it is a mouthful, but it’s a great sample of what’s to come in cacti skincare products. This lightweight gel serum’s potent, triple-peptide and hyaluronic acid-infused face and eye serum intensely and immediately hydrates while visibly plumping and firming skin to sustain the bouncy and radiant skin of your youth. That makes it a great choice to use in the fight against the key signs of aging, like fine lines, wrinkles, dryness and loss of firmness and elasticity. 8. IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Get ready to say bye, bye, bye to fine lines and wrinkles with IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum. This hydrating serum is a little bit different from the rest. Instead of the usual two percent concentration of hyaluronic acid, it has only one and a half percent. This may not sound like it would make that much of a difference, but for those with sensitive skin, it is a game-changer.

The same goes for those with already naturally super moist skin (who are you, and how did you get so lucky?). This serum is also formulated with peptides and vitamin B5 to visibly plump skin to combat the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and loss of firmness and elasticity. Meanwhile, hyaluronic acid targets dryness deep within your skin.

This serum is vegan, clinically tested and dermatologist-approved to be suitable for all skin types (yep, even dry and sensitive skin). If that weren’t enough, IT Cosmetics also developed this serum alongside plastic surgeons and dermatologists to create as much of a plumping effect as possible. Who wouldn’t want to use a serum instead of getting costly rhinoplasty?

Farmacy is more than just a good name. They make great products that live up to the name. And the vegan collagen peptides support the natural skin barrier and visibly smooth wrinkles.

10. Dermalogica Circular Hydration Serum with Hyaluronic Acid

If you haven’t heard of Dermalogica, then let us introduce you to this cult-favorite brand. Dermalogica isn’t your average skincare company started by a makeup YouTuber or supermarket brand. It is a professional-grade skincare product developed by The International Dermal Institute.

Rigorous scientific trials from world-renowned dermatologists are behind the formulas in Dermalogica products. One of our favorites is their Circular Hydration Serum with Hyaluronic Acid, which instantly hydrates and works to prevent future dehydration. It is perfect for normal, dry, combination and oily skin types that are plagued by fine lines, wrinkles, dryness and loss of firmness and elasticity.

This lightweight serum uses hyaluronic acid to penetrate the layers of your skin for long-lasting intense hydration, while the algae-extract-infused moisturizing matrix binds water to the skin for immediate and all-day-long moisture. Additionally, polyglutamic acid derived from fermented soybeans works to support the skin’s natural moisture barrier from within to prevent dehydration throughout the day.

Dermalogica ensures that this serum is free of parabens, formaldehydes, phthalates, mineral oil, coal tar and sulfates. It also contains less than one percent synthetic fragrance and is vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free.

12. Biossance Squalane + Copper Peptide Rapid Plumping Serum

Biossance knows a thing or two about biology, especially when it involves the delicate epidermis (science talk for skin) that we all love/hate. Crafting products to protect and renew your skin is no easy task. Scientists and skincare specialists have to rigorously research and test what ingredients will make your skin look radiant without causing long-term damage through allergies or chemical reactions. Needless to say, Biossance understands this scientific art almost better than anyone. One of our favorite products that highlight their craft is the Squalane + Copper Peptide Rapid Plumping Serum.

This powerful serum hydrates and plumps skin quickly and visibly thanks to its complex of clinically proven hydrators and collagen-supporting peptides. No matter your skin type, if you suffer from fine lines, wrinkles, dryness and loss of firmness and elasticity, then your skin will benefit from this serum. Its key ingredient, copper peptide, is a naturally blue-hued vegan blend shown to support collagen and elastin production to create the appearance of firmer and bouncier-looking skin.

Meanwhile, the infused rapid plumping complex hydrator blend of hyaluronic acid, polyglutamic acid and sugarcane squalane works to draw moisture into the skin and trap it there for hydration that will last all day. On top of those wonderful ingredients is a paracress extract derived from flowers that quickly and visibly lifts and firms skin immediately after application. And before you ask, yes, this serum is cruelty-free.

13. Kiehl’s Since 1851 Vital Skin-Strengthening Hyaluronic Acid Super Serum

Kiehl’s has been looking after us since 1851. As one of the oldest brands still readily available, it is safe to say they have wisdom beyond their years when it comes to creating great skincare products. One of their best products to show off their knowledge in the industry just also happens to be one of the best hyaluronic acids for 2023. Kiehl’s Vital Skin-Strengthening Super Serum fortifies skin like no other in order to help resist skin-aging stressors while boosting your skin’s natural radiance and texture.

This lightweight serum was specially formulated to target dryness, fine lines and wrinkles for all skin types. Kiehl’s uses the unique 11kDa hyaluronic acid that is formulated to better retain moisture for improved resiliency, suppleness and bounce by being smaller in molecular size to achieve even deeper penetration into your skin’s layers. The historic brand also uses a proprietary blend of adaptogens consisting of red ginseng root, holy basil and rich antioxidants like Schisandra berry that work together to defend skin from key signs of aging (wrinkles, fine lines, dullness, etc.) by renewing and resurfacing your skin’s healthy texture to bring out the radiance from your youth. We think you can trust Kiehl’s on this one—and all the other ones, too.

14. FaceGym Hydro-Bound Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide Serum

When you want to be fit and healthy, you go to the gym. But what do you do if you want your skin to be healthy? Well, you go to the FaceGym of course. FaceGym’s Hydro-Bound Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide Serum is just the rebound your skin needs to win the skincare game.

This hydrating and visibly plumping serum uses everyone’s favorite acid—hyaluronic (yes, when it comes to skincare, you can brag about having a favorite acid)—as well as marine bio ferment to trap moisture, as well as visibly tighten and smooth skin. Polyglutamic acids rapidly hydrate dry skin and minimize the look of expression lines, while a bio-lifting complex and niacinamide reinforce your skin’s natural strength against the signs of aging to create a smooth, firm look.

This lightweight serum is applicable for all skin types to treat fine lines, wrinkles, dryness, and loss of firmness and elasticity. Plus, it is vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free. Talk about a game-winning serum.

15. Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Hyaluronic Marine Hydration Booster

Dr. Dennis Gross isn’t just a random brand name made up for marketing’s sake. Dr. Dennis Gross is a real doctor who has professional experience as a cancer researcher, practicing dermatologist and formula innovator. His products don’t just use his name; they use his real-world expertise in finding ingredients that are safe and irritant free. In his research, he has eliminated over 1,650 ingredients as candidates in his products due to the possibility they may be toxic, unsafe or harmful and irritating to the skin. So, yeah, he knows his stuff.

Our favorite product from his professional strength line of skincare products is the Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Hydration Booster. This time-release serum concentrate helps infuse and seal deep moisture for tighter, smoother and more radiant-looking skin. Its formula contains hydration-boosting microdroplets of hyaluronic acid, watermelon extract and centella asiatica that smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for younger and softer-looking skin. And as any good doctor should, he made this magical serum vegan and cruelty free. What was the old saying again? “A serum a day keeps the doctor away?” Yeah, we think that’s it.

16. Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum

What do you think of when you see the words “Made in Germany”? We wouldn’t blame you if you think of fast cars, precise engineering and expensive cameras. However, we would like to notify you of another German export we’re suckers for—skincare products. Yep, you read that right. And by skincare, we mean Dr. Barbara Sturm Molecular Cosmetics.

Created by the real-life doctor of the same name, Dr. Sturm uses her background in aesthetics and anti-inflammatory medicine to create scientifically-proven products made out of high-quality ingredients and nonaggressive natural extracts. A favorite product of ours from her is the Hyaluronic Serum. It is a custom blend of low- and high-weighted hyaluronic acid molecules that were selected for their optimal concentration for effectiveness in moisture-binding properties and their ability to provide long-term hydration to create more supple-looking skin.

This lightweight serum can be used on all skin types, but it is best suited for dryness. Use it daily for effective treatment in reducing the look of wrinkles that occur from dehydrated skin. This product is vegan, cruelty free and gluten free.

17. Nécessaire The Body Serum - With Hyaluronic Acid

A good skincare routine is necessary if you want youthful, healthy-looking skin all the way into old age. However, most people neglect their skin out of fear of their routine taking too much time out of their day and the dread of just another complex task to cut in between all the other chores that need to be done. We must set the record straight. A good skincare routine doesn’t have to be complex.

Luckily for those skincare doubters, Necessaire can show them how simple the necessary task of skincare can be. The aptly named brand’s The Body Serum is a daily hyaluronic acid serum that hydrates replenishes and visibly plumps the skin while being fragrance-free, dermatologist-tested, vegan, cruelty-free and hypoallergenic.

Five weights of hyaluronic acid are used to deliver multilevel hydration at different intervals throughout the day, while vitamin B3 replenishes skin on contact as a plant-based ceramide works to plump skin. That’s it. No convoluted names, harsh ingredients or page-long application directions. Just use it daily and see immediate results. See, skincare can be simple and time-efficient.

18. Paula’s Choice RESIST Advanced Replenishing Toner with Hyaluronic Acid

Most serums, and skincare products in general, are developed to work on all skin types. This makes sense from a business perspective but not from the perspective of someone with skin (i.e. all of us). For example, if you have dry skin, something that works for oily skin will probably not give you the results you need or are looking for. Paula’s Choice understands this dilemma better than most, and that’s why we chose their Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner with Hyaluronic Acid to show how great skincare products can be when they focus on treating just one or two skin types instead of all skin types.

This softening toner was specially formulated to work on normal and dry skin types to replenish their essential nutrients and fatty acids while visibly plumping and soothing skin. Infused hyaluronic acid and evening primrose oil provides rapidly replenishing moisture that reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles while linoleic, oleic and linolenic acids visibly diminish dullness and support your skin’s natural resilience.

This ultra-hydrating toner has the consistency of a lightweight serum and shares almost entirely the same properties, so we just had to share it. Plus, it is free of harmful chemicals, and it is gluten-free and cruelty-free.

19. Dr. Zenovia Skincare Hyaluronic Acid + Peptide Serum

If you got this far through the list and were just saying “this serum isn’t lightweight enough” the whole time, then you’re in for a treat. Dr. Zenovia Hormonal Dermatology Hyaluronic Acid + Peptide Serum is an ultra-lightweight serum formulated with—you guessed it—hyaluronic acid and peptides to intensely hydrate and visibly firm skin for a soft, radiant, and dewy look.

Since it is ultra-lightweight, it is perfect for those with sensitive and temperamental combination skin that seems to have just the hardest time adapting to changes in its skincare regimen. This serum has a proprietary blend of medical-grade actives (such as resveratrol, vitamin E, green tea, bakuchiol, and genistein—a plant-derived phytoestrogen) that work to revive your skin’s naturally healthy appearance by bringing balance to your out-of-whack hormonally imbalanced skin.

If you have searched and searched for a serum to keep away fine lines and wrinkles, dryness and loss of firmness and elasticity from your delicate combination skin, then this is what you’ve been waiting for. No more scrolling; just relax, and add this to your cart.
