Letter: If I ever receive any of the (bribe) payments Trump has promised, I know just what to do with them

I’m still waiting for my $2,000 portion of the “trillions” generated by tariffs that DJT promised me last November. And I don’t expect to get $5,000 from him (or is it from myself) after the November elections. It appears Democrats will take the House and/or Senate and start the return from LaLa Land. Even if they lost, I don’t believe the $5,000 would be forthcoming.

Oh, but we are being promised more. Seniors in Medicare Part B will get $90 each to offset drug costs, taken from the Medicare Improvement Fund. How this improves Medicare is a mystery. And one million enrollees in ACA in 30 states, including Utah, may receive $500 checks because they were supposedly overcharged under Biden. The funds are apparently from insurance company user fees, perhaps the unspent $1 billion collected in the first Trump administration.

If I receive such funds, I’ll face a dilemma. They are clearly a bribe meant to buy votes in November. Their rationale is fallacious. Fortunately, I don’t need the money to catch up on rent or buy groceries. Is the ethical choice to reject the money, whose real impact will be to increase our $2 trillion Trump budget deficit? Rather, I think I will take the “radical” step, and try to go to the root of the problem. Any funds I receive I will immediately donate to Democratic congressional candidates in Utah.

Our current Republican representatives have facilitated the personnel and policies of the Trump administration that have gotten us into today’s mess: a lost war in Iran, subservience to Russia as it supports Iran’s war effort and continues its assault on Ukraine, diesel prices over $6.00 per gallon nationally, continued inflation, high level corruption (rot from the head down to Guilfoyle), and an unprecedented inability to uphold rather than subvert the law. So rather than the funds going to support continued mis- and mal-feasance, they may help reverse this disastrous course.

Thank you, Mr. Trump.
