(Bethany Baker | The Salt Lake Tribune) Sen. Lincoln Fillmore, R-South Jordan, speaks during floor time in the Utah House of Representatives in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Open letter to Lincoln Fillmore:

I thought I would spare you the personal email that I would normally send on Amendment B.

Of course you are the sponsor!

Your reasoning for wanting to raise the threshold for passing Initiatives by the Citizens is flimsy. Never have I seen our citizens want to pass a tax increase. Your reasoning is, again, a mask for the real reason for this amendment.

You know better, and you hate our ability to challenge you and this Legislature.

The truth is you do not know better — yet again!

I hope all in this state will see through this attempt to take the ability of our citizens to challenge the supermajority in our Legislature. Vote NO on Amendment B.

Neil West, South Jordan
