I personally don’t want any data centers built in Utah; especially one in the northern part of our state.
But since Gov. Cox feels such a strong sense of urgency about having one. Well, his farm is in Sanpete County and there are only 1,350 people who live in Fairview. Certainly Sanpete County residents should be grateful to have this amazing opportunity for more jobs and economic development to come to their neighborhood.
So I think that rather than the data center going into Box Elder County where it will affect our wetlands and our lake and, definitely, how much pollution will be in our valley, I think Cox should put his money where his mouth is and let them build it right next to his farm. Of course, we know this isn’t going to happen because he doesn’t want the noise, heat and pollution in his “backyard.”
Seriously though, if this is such a great thing, I’m sure that we can get the natural gas pipeline down to Cox‘s farm. I actually think this should be a priority. Then he can listen to that humming that will be audible for 20 miles in every direction.
Perhaps another upside for Cox is that the heat island the data center produces will keep his land warm enough so that he can farm all year. A win-win!
At least then the birds can continue to go to the wetlands up in Box Elder County in peace and quiet, the Great Salt Lake won’t become more endangered unnecessarily and those of us who live in the Salt Lake Valley won’t have to choke on the pollution caused by burning a huge amount of fossil fuel.
I actually think it’s a great idea. It will also ease this great anxiety he apparently feels about Utah missing out on this boondoggle! And then he will be personally doing his part to Make America Great Again. Win-win!
