Phew! You’d have a hard time finding a better illustration of “cognitive decline,” whether generated by age or not (I am the same age as President Joe Biden; admittedly feeling many of the same cognitive-decline impacts as our current president does) than that illuminated by the letter to which Rep. Burgess Owens added his signature, as reported in The Tribune.
By contrast, former-President Trump was and is the supreme example of cognitive, intellectual and ethical decline, a functioning swamp of Russian mafia principles compounded by complete selfishness.
President Biden is so eminently worthy of our study precisely because of the ethical/intellectual contrast with the cognitive quagmire exemplified by the Trump years — which seem to continue into current times. Rep. Owens would do well just to remain silent, if the choice is between signing breathtakingly stupid letters illustrating vapid Trump “principles.”
Some day, perhaps we’ll be able to recover from those years, hopefully free of Rep. Owens and his friends.
