Has anybody considered the possibility that the Alito draft that was “leaked” might instead be a trial balloon?
Think of what goes along with that. He who floats a trial balloon always blasts the other side for “a treacherous, underhanded, politically motivated leak,” while gathering instant public feedback on what the uproar will be if they take the action they are considering.
And our beloved SCOTUS claims they are never political hacks. But they sure look the part right now.

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.
Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
