Letter: Please, Sen. Lee, stop the lying and work towards solutions America’s problems

(Susan Walsh | AP) Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, attends a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting on Capitol Hill in Washington, Monday, March 1, 2021. The Senate Judiciary Committee voted Monday to advance the nomination of Merrick Garland, President Joe Biden's nominee for attorney general.

So the Republicans are at it again, using their decades old tactic of spewing fear and hate of Democrats. Our “senator,” Mike Lee, stated at the latest Republican hate-fest, CPAC, that Democrats hate the Bill of Rights. Really? The Republican playbook of hate and fear, now includes constant lying. This is what Lee has to offer the country? Maybe our politicians should be more respectful of people, to help tone down the harmful political rhetoric.

And maybe Republicans need to have a more productive platform, say, some type of policy? Instead of demonizing the other side, how about coming up with some real policies (besides tax cuts for the rich). It seems the current Republicans platform is to hate Democrats, help the rich, cling to power by any means (voter suppression) and lie, lie, lie.

Please Sen. Lee, for the sake of our country, stop the lying and work towards finding solutions for our country’s problems.

Julie Howe, Sandy
