2020 was nothing short of crazy, and with the new year nothing has really changed. With the rise of COVID-19 early last year, many schools and school districts had to decide whether kids should still be learning in-person or from home.
Even now I am thankful Salt Lake City School District has kept all students online instead of being in the classroom. Not only am I a part of a family that has many high-risk members, but I have personally benefited from the online learning experience. Being a student-athlete, I have suffered from many concussions, which has made it hard to go into school.
With the shift to online learning, I have benefited from being at home with fewer distractions. Besides that, I have learned many valuable lessons from online school. I have been able to gain a perspective and learn more skills that will be more valuable as I head into college. I learned the importance of communicating with other students, and especially my teachers. Even though online learning has its drawbacks, I believe keeping us at home has helped keep everyone safe, while being able to earn an education.
