Gov. Gary Herbert listening to health experts and epidemiologists while trying to appease people who want to pretend this epidemic isn’t happening is unfortunate but necessary. I wish he would do more. In their op-ed, Ethan Blevins and Daniel Ortner write that more power be given to the “peoples representatives” to make those decisions.
Please, if you weren’t aware, the legislature has been so gerrymandered that many people are not represented in this state, and the government power grab has and continues to happen right there. I do not trust the legislative majority to understand and do what is important for people’s health and well being. It is wise to follow the advice and directives of Gov. Herbert (who was elected by the people, although many times I don’t agree with him) and health experts.
