Letter: The buffoonery of Burgess Owens

(Rick Bowmer | AP file photo) Burgess Owens, Republican candidate in Utah's 4th Congressional District, poses for a photograph during a campaign stop Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, in Spring City, Utah.

Yes, our family is disappointed in the outcome of the election in the 4th Congressional District. However, on top of our sadness at now having a representative who can’t tell the difference between a democratic government such as Canada’s, the U.K.’s, Australia’s, New Zealand’s, Japan’s, Israel’s, Switzerland’s, France’s, Germany’s, Belgium’s, etc., etc., etc., versus communist governments such as those in China and the former USSR (Note: our loquacious, albeit ignoramus legislator says having universal healthcare makes them all “Marxist, communist”).

He states that he was cheated out of votes by Utah Democrats (“Without evidence, Republican Burgess Owens accuses Democrats of election fraud,” Nov. 17). Owen’s claims, according to Tribune politics correspondent Bryan Schott, were made on a television program hosted by Lou Dobbs. In a state where Republicans have a stranglehold on every possible means of political control and expression, how do the Democrats manage that?
