Letter: Weston is getting out there, while Stewart is nowhere to be seen

(House Television via AP) Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, speaks as the House of Representatives debates the articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump at the Capitol in Washington, Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019.

Where is Rep. Chris Stewart? He’s up for reelection — is he hiding in a bunker away from Utah’s voters? How does he feel about recent significant events including the pandemic, elections, health care, Supreme Court nomination, white supremacists, racial division, climate change, violence, uranium and nuclear waste? We haven’t seen him live answering questions. Are we to assume that our representative supports Trump and lobbyists before Utah?

In the meantime, his opponent Kael Weston is out meeting with voters all over the state in local parks. He is a writer, teacher and has served the State Department. He has served overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. He wants input from voters and is seeking to help heal America’s political and social division.

The 2nd Congressional District spans huge parts of Utah that includes 13 counties. It seems an enormous task for a challenger to canvass all the counties and major cities. Kael Weston is doing it. My challenge to Chris Stewart: Visit 13 counties in 13 days and hold political rallies or town halls so the voters can hear from you and see you in person. Your donors and the voters deserve it.
